Coronation Street fans were left in stitches as they spotted a real-life blunder from Abi Webster in the latest episode of the ITV soap.

The character, played by Sally Carman-Duttine, was seen in the Rovers Return during Wednesday night’s (April 30) trip to the Cobbles. She was among those attending a fundraiser for Julie Carp.

As fans of the long-running show know, Julie returned to Weatherfield earlier this year with some heartbreaking news. She is living with terminal cancer and didn’t know how much time she has left.

Todd and George were the first to find out and encouraged her to tell Eileen too. Eventually, everyone found out about Julie’s ill health and has been rallying around to help make her last moments on earth as good as they possibly can be.

However, Corrie spoilers for next week have confirmed that Julie’s time will come to an end. Before those heartbreaking scenes, the Street’s residents are rallying round to show support.

The latest efforts to raise money to help Julie live life to the full saw a bingo fundraiser take place at the Rovers Return, with Christina Boyd leading proceedings.

But it was one particular scene, in which Abi was paying for her drink from Rovers landlady Jenny Connor, that viewers noticed a slip-up.

As Abi handed over her cash to Jenny, she was seemingly heard saying: “Cheers, Sal!” which fans will know is Jenny actress’ Sally Ann Matthews’ real name.

Sharing the clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, @daisysmidgeley said: “I’m crying, does she say ‘cheers sal’ and they kept it in?” @vanitysswarla replied: “Yes she does!”

@evespanesar echoed: “She does.” @SMS98922 commented: “That’s too funny! And it looks like Sally (Jenny) genuinely smiled like she caught it.” @Chlo13xo added: “I AM DEAD.”

Meanwhile, Sally recently revealed that she can’t stand working with her real-life husband, Joe Duttine, on the long-running show. The married couple play mechanic and taxi boss Tim Metcalfe, respectively.

But Sally confessed she cannot stand to be near her spouse on set. She told OK!: “I’d be very happy never to have a scene with him ever again. I love Joe to bits, but I don’t like working with him – I’m never going to like working with him.”

She continued: “Bless him, we’ve got very different work processes – let’s just put it like that. I like to come fully prepared, and he likes to flesh it out on the floor.”

The 43-year-old soap star also admitted that she gets into fits of laughter whenever her other half tells one of his jokes, adding that he likes to make her laugh “on purpose” – which results in Sally telling him off.
