David Beckham angers neighbours with ‘silly plans’ at mansion

The former Manchester United footballer has lived with wife and former Spice Girl, Victoria, at the spot in west Oxfordshire for several years.
Valued at around £6 million, the home has caused controversy in Great Tew due to planning applications including a new glasshouse and kitchen garden submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council in 2023.
The celebrity couple have now stirred up some discontent with their latest plans to add a new barn to the estate.

Mr Beckham’s application to West Oxfordshire District Council has outlined a desire to build an “agricultural storage barn for hay or straw and agricultural equipment”.
The barn would be constructed with a steel frame and timber cladding, measuring 10 meters by five meters with a metal roof, according to the plans.
Householder Harriet Jones said: “This is just the latest in a long line of applications to build new structures on this land, plus a giant lake.

“Why do famous people move out to the country and then clutter up their land with endless buildings and make silly alterations? It makes no sense.”
Another disgruntled neighbour complained to the council and stated: “Many people locally indicated to West Oxfordshire Council that the increase in the residential curtilage of this property will see an ever-increasing number of buildings, and to date we have all been proved right.”
The Express has reported a decision on the planning application is anticipated in the near future.
