The Fighting Irish cornerback and kick/punt returner heads to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Former Notre Dame cornerback and special-teams player Max Hurleman has signed with the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hurleman, who has the ability to return kicks, hails from Pennsylvania, but closer to Philadelphia than Pittsburgh. Hurleman played in 16 games for the Fighting Irish in 2024, compiling 13 tackles — 11 solo — and recovered a fumble.

Hurleman has now punched his ticket to the NFL as an undrafted free agent. It’s a tough road ahead — Hurleman may have to fight just to make the Steelers’ roster — but it’s still remarkable for a depth player. Even one with punt- and kick-return ability.

Good luck, Max!
