Rajan Shahi‘s TV serial Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been entertaining the masses for years. Currently, the story is that of the fourth generation. Rohit Purohit and Samridhii Shukla are the leads. Before these two, Harshad Chopda and Pranali Rathod played the leads in the third generation. They played Abhimanyu and Akshara respectively. There has been a lot of chatter around Harshad Chopda and Rajan Shahi having creative differences. In a recent interview, Rajan Shahi spoke at length about Harshad Chopda.
In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Rajan Shahi called Harshad Chopda a ‘great guy’. Though he accepted that they had creative differences, Rajan Shahi praised Harshad Chopda for his dedication. He said that the actor would dive deep into the character and would live that. He recalled how Harshad called him once and said that he wants to work in a number one show. Harshad stated that he has worked in hit shows, cult shows but never in number one show. Rajan Shahi recalled, “Harshad ki mujhe yahi lines thi jab wo mujhe mila, ‘Sir main bidaai se aapke peeche pada hoon aur mujhe aap ke sath karna tha. Sir meri life mein kabhi number one show nahi aaya, mujhe ek number one show mein kaam kar na hai. Maine Maine hit shows diye hai, cult shows hai but number one koi nahi bana.’ But the sad part was, throughout the tenure of Harshad and Pranali, we were never number one.”
Rajan Shahi mentioned that Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai bounced back after Rohit Purohit’s entry and became the number one show. Rohit Purohit replaced Shehzada Dhami after latter’s fallout with the maker. Shehzada’s overnight ouster from the show had shocked all.
In the past, Rajan Shahi has also spoken about his fallout with Hina Khan and Karan Mehra. They were the leads of the first generation.
